ABOUT:
Walking into the Home/Artist Studio/Gallery of Stanford Slutsky is like walking into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, the giant-sized hyper-realistic art sculptures on the walls look good enough to eat. What looks like luscious chocolates are actually unique sculptures.
Slutsky's creations are all three dimensional, mixed media, and hyper-realistic sculptures in exaggerated sizes of sweet candies.
He has an innate reverence for the things we eat. Food brings people together and there is no better way to celebrate life. We take for granted the aesthetically pleasing and seductive look of food. Slutsky likes to create art that can lure, charm, tease, disarm and surprise. His sculptures put viewers in a vulnerable state so that the viewers can communicate with their inner selves in a more honest and direct way. He activates the hunger people have for the things that give them pleasure and forces them to surrender to being nostalgic. The sensual nature of this work stimulates basic human needs and desires that generate cravings and passion. nuance, a subtle distinction or variation.
Slutsky hopes to bring a little nostalgia and fond memories of the sweet things back in your life. Stay playful!

Boynton Beach, Florida artist Stanford Slutsky creates art that looks like delectable desserts. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.
In the past, youngsters during spring and summer weeks listened for the jangling bells of the Good Humor man’s ice cream truck to buy a delicious treat

Artist Stanford Slutsky of Boynton Beach, creates unmistakable hyper-realistic life like sculptures of the sweet ice cream treats he remembers from his youth in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh. He also creates art that looks like chocolates, candy buttons on paper, hamburgers, bagels and pizza, among others. After one year of college, he spent his career in the wholesale grocery business, retiring to Florida in 1983. “I’m a self-taught artist, that I believe that comes from a higher power,” said Slutsky, who sports a goatee and boasts a puckish sense of humor, saying he is “the best looking artist you know.” “Creating food art was the natural growth of my background. Looking back at my life, driving a Good Humor ice cream truck for a summer job, being in the grocery business, my love of food, especially my love of sweet things inspired my choice of subjects.

Artists have always impressed me. Since I could not even draw a good stick figure, I decided to leave all that "stuff" to those who have talent. With that in mind, the first time Ron and I visited Stanford Slutsky in his home, we were really blown away. When I knew Kathy in Pittsburgh some 30 or more years ago, I had no idea that her husband was an artist. I did hear through the grapevine after they moved to Florida that Stan was doing art work. When I finally saw some of his abstract work I became a believer. Fortunately we were able to purchase some of his work and as we became good friends, watch him spread his wings further into 3 D art of food. What a creative mind to think of an ice cream bar with melting ice cream. How about a slice of pizza with a bite chewed out? Fortunately we were able to see an exhibit of his works in March before we left Florida. The Coral Springs Museum invited Stanford to exhibit his works (40 pieces) in a show. I liked the other artists' works, but Stanford's pieces, starting from his abstract painting to his 3 D pieces were a joy. I listened to other visitors marvel how good the works were and also how good the pieces made them feel. I remember I was once told that you should never give artwork to anyone else because his/her taste is different. I can bet you that everyone I know would be delighted to receive an original "Stanford Slutsky." Are not we all lucky to live in a community that has so many talented thinkers, artists and people with great imaginations who can share their talents with us? I wish everyone could enjoy the creativity that abounds in our GROVE neighborhood. www.stanfordslutsky.com
